Origin of Staci’s Real Edge

My late mother, who rose from a Jim Crow childhood to become a globally traveled (30+ trips), millionaire vocational consultant in the 80’s, said to me, “Staci, no one wants to hear my story; they want to hear from someone important.” That broke my heart.

As a child, listening to her engaging stories of clients’ success or failure at the dinner table, I sensed that all our real lives are like “novels”, from the Latin for—new story. And never mind writing them, most of us are not even reading them.

I followed my quest into the social sciences (psych anthro, org behavior) and ultimately management career coaching & consulting (Accenture, EY, Gap, Harrah’s), I realized that most career “novels” are unseen, and thus underestimated, even tossed away like a diamond into a landfill, along with millions of other discarded artifacts of a single modern human life.

Have you too, like my Mom, been trained your career is Not a Real Story? That you have Not done much to note.

But, spoiler alert, you probably have, and it really is a story! It just may be that a story is not what you think.

If you’re ready to embrace your own *novel-your own unfolding Real story, reach out!

Any story is fundamentally about perspective. To see or tell it clearly, one must have consciousness beyond one’s own view - from the view of your users or customers or team.

Your career story (or resume) truly is — the big picture of the problems you have solved. Can you name them?

For me, my Mom’s refusal (her whole life) to tell me her story, became a turning point.

& I made a decision to dedicate my life to showing regular SMEs the importance of their own stories. And to help them set their meaning free quickly & engagingly.

Now, having freed 10,000+ work stories from career *landfills, might yours be next?
